BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Creative Media Production (Games Design)
Why should I study this subject?
Throughout the course you will look at the way creative industries operate and impact upon the real world by exploring a range of media products.
What will I study?
The course is assessed over thirteen units, four of which are externally assessed. The units to be covered are:
BTEC Extended Certificate
Responding to a commission
Working in the creative media industry
The BTEC Extended Diploma covers the above units and also the below:
Digital media skills
specialist subject investigation
Digital games production
3D digital animation
What are the entry requirements?
What skills do I need?
Creativity, good time management, a fertile imagination.
How will I be taught?
You will be taught through a combination of lectures & group tasks but also you will be expected to work independently and work using various skills to develop an individual portfolio.
How will I be assessed?
The course is assessed through a combination of exam, externally set & marked tasks and internally assessed coursework.
What will the course prepare me for?
This course will prepare you for further study of Games Design at university and employment within the games industry.
How much private study should I expect to do?
A minimum of 10 hours is expected to be spent on completing essays, creating concept art, and the research & development of ideas.
What materials will I need to purchase?
Art materials will be required, specifically a sketch pad, drawing & colouring pencils and fine liners.
