Students are encouraged to take an active role in musical and drama activities and to form and direct their own groups. Choir takes place every week for staff and students, and there are lots of chamber music, solo performance and drama opportunities to get involved with during the year. Students will also develop the ability to rehearse and direct their very own groups.

The instrumental lessons on offer at New College Bradford are as follows:
Strings – Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass
Woodwind – Flute, Clarinet, Tenor Saxophone and Alto Saxophone
Brass – French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Bass Trombone, Tuba
Percussion – Drum Kit, Tuned Percussion
Guitars – Classical Guitar, Electric Guitar and Bass Guitar
Other – Keyboard, Piano and Voice
Instrumental Tuition is provided through Bradford Music Service. To sign up to lessons, download the NCB Music Instrumental Tuition Letter here. Instrument hire is available for £10 per term from http://www.windstruments.co.uk/
Lessons will usually take place in the NCB Music department during one of your free periods at the same time each week. All students taking peripatetic lessons will be invited to take part in NCB ensembles and performances throughout their time with us.
Performances & Concerts
The Performing Arts department hosts a variety of concerts, shows and recitals during the academic year. This includes a “New College Bradford Young Musician of the Year Competition” and seasonal concerts.
Leeds College of Music will be visiting New College Bradford in our first few years of opening to run workshops for Performing Arts students. Potential workshops will include:

Music and drama students will be able to get involved in these workshops, as well as students taking instrumental lessons or who are part of any Performing Arts clubs either inside or outside of college. Check the Performing Arts noticeboard for updates if you would like to get involved!
Live Music and Theatre Trips
Students studying Performing Arts will be invited to attend trips to see live music in and around Bradford and theatre, relating to their course. For example, we plan to take our Year 12s to watch some of the set works for Music A Level live at The Bridgewater Hall in January.
Watch out for music and drama events at NCB Fresher’s Fair, and check the Performing Arts department noticeboards or Twitter for general information about extra-curricular events, clubs happening at New College Bradford.
