Principal’s Update December 2018

We’re delighted to have already received over 1000 applications to join New College Bradford in September 2019. With students applying from over 40 schools across Bradford, New College is proving highly popular. We believe that this interest is because of the wide range of subjects we offer, our new campus, our ‘outstanding’ track record at New College Pontefract and the young adult environment New College will bring, a very different experience to a school sixth form.

Our official deadline for applications is 22nd February – if you haven’t applied yet, we’d strongly encourage you to do so. You can still apply after 22nd February and it’s very likely that many students applying after 22nd February will secure places. But with 1000 applications already there’s a good chance we could be oversubscribed. We’ll naturally give priority places to students that do meet the deadline so it’s best to apply sooner rather than later. Applying earlier in the year also makes it easier for us to invite you to events, for your interview, and to share important information with you about the college and its progress.

For example, the building work is ahead of schedule, and if you have driven or walked past the site recently you will have seen the 5-storey steel framework starting to be assembled. Once the steel frame is up, the building will start to take shape and progress will be much more rapid.

Our next event is our second Open Day, which is on Saturday 19th January 2019 at the Margaret-McMillan Tower in Bradford. At the event, you will be able to talk to teaching staff from all the subjects on offer and listen to a presentation about the college itself. The doors open at 9.30 am and the event finishes at 12.30 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend. We look forward to seeing you there.

I wish you all the best at Christmas and for the exciting New Year ahead.
