New College Bradford enjoys bumper Open Day

Bradford’s first sixth form college opens its doors in September 2019, and its first Open Day has been a huge success. Staff from every A-Level and BTEC course being offered were on hand to provide specific advice to the hundreds of students and their parents who visited the event at Margaret McMillan Tower in Bradford city centre, a few hundred feet away from the site of the new college. Numbers were so large that Principal Designate Stuart Nash had to run his welcome presentation 12 times over the course of the event, instead of the four planned.

As well as parents and students, professionals from the world of education came to find out more about the 16-19 sixth form college, and the event was also attended by Pulse Radio, whose street team were running their “Summer of Selfies” campaign.
“The Open Day event was incredibly busy and overwhelmingly positive,” said Stuart. “The New College Bradford project is well on track for a September 2019 opening, with high numbers of student applications and with the building work beginning in earnest. These are exciting times, as we continue to work hard to raise the aspirations of the young people of Bradford.”

Over 600 applications have already been received for September 2019, with more coming in every week. Every student who applies will be invited to an admissions interview where an experienced member of staff will talk through their career aspirations and the subject choices available. If you have not applied yet, there is still time to apply to do so via our online application form on www.ncbradford.ac.uk. The closing date for applications for next September is February 22, 2019.

If you want to find out more about New College Bradford and you missed the open event, don’t worry. A second Open Day is running on Saturday 19 January, 2019. Full details of this, and all our open events, can be found on www.ncbradford.ac.uk, along with a digital copy of our prospectus.
