Nelson Street in Bradford city centre is the conformed location of New College Bradford’s site.
Only a five-minute walk from Bradford Interchange, the location will ensure that young people from across the region will be able to access the new sixth form college easily.
New College Bradford plans to open its doors in September 2019. It will offer a range of A-Level, Level 2 and Level 3 BTEC qualifications, with a strong focus on STEM subjects and progression on to higher education and employment. The new college is supported by a partnership with BDAT to rationalise sixth form provision in its secondary school.
Pauline Hagen, New Collaborative Learning Trust CEO, said:
“We have worked closely with the government’s Education and Skills Funding Agency to ensure that we could identify a suitable location as quickly as possible, and we are delighted to have found a site as good as this. Along with the confirmation of capital funding earlier in the summer, this announcement means plans are well under way for the opening of New College Bradford in September 2019. The continued support we’ve received from across Bradford, for example with the Bradford Diocesan Academy Trust, means that not only are we building a new site, we’re also building new partnerships with others equally committed to improving educational outcomes for Bradford’s young people.”
New College Bradford will be the third sixth form college run by the New Collaborative Learning Trust, which currently has 3,000 students enrolled at its two colleges, New College Pontefract and New College Doncaster. The New College ‘brand’ has a reputation across the north of England for outstanding exam results for young people and exceptionally strong university progression.
