This week the progress with New College Bradford has included developing our curriculum offer for Bradford’s post-16 students in 2019, and on the continuing search for a site.
The curriculum offer will include an engineering specialism, which coupled with our focus on STEM subjects [science, technology, engineering and maths] will help equip Bradford’s young people for the world of work.
The process of identifying a location involves close co-ordination with the Education Funding Agency, part of the DfE who are responsible for providing capital funding for the buildings needed for free schools.
A shortlist is drawn up of potential locations, matching points laid out in a grid covering a predetermined set of criteria. For New College Bradford, all of these potential locations are in the city centre.
Once the location has been secured, a process begins for identifying the contractors who will be responsible for either renovating an already-existing building or for creating a new building from scratch.
