NCB Students and their Parents ‘See It, Feel It and Live It’ at Uni of Hull Open Day

On Saturday 27th November, 16 NCB students, their parents and College staff visited the University of Hull Open Day.  This fantastic opportunity was organised by the University of Hull and provided our students and their parents with the chance to experience a university environment.  The motto for the University of Hull Open Event was ‘See It, Feel It and Live It’, and we certainly did.  With tours of the beautiful ivy-clad red brick campus, live music tents, subject specific events and lectures, there was so much for our students and their parents to do.  Unfortunately, Storm Arwen limited our time in the many outdoor green leafy spaces which can be found on campus, and also resulted in a number of our NCB families who were planning to attend the event with us having to cancel.  However, the bad weather provided a good excuse to experience the variety of cafes the University has to offer.  This event is a highlight of the New College Bradford ENGAGE Programme which aims to work with parents and the wider community to take an active role in ensuring our students learn, succeed and progress.

Here’s what our parents and students had to say about the ENGAGE event to the University of Hull:

‘An insightful day filled with loads of information about the degrees, campus and surrounding area.  The ambassadors were very friendly and polite’.

‘The University of Hull visit was really good.  I enjoyed the trip and the people there were nice, kind and always had time to answer questions’.

‘It was very informative and interesting.  It was very nice to get an insight on the courses the University of Hull offers.  It was also good to look around the campus’.  Safah.

‘A lovely beautiful experience…all for free too!  Had an enjoyable day…except for the weather of course’.   Amina.

‘The University of Hull was very accommodating and provided a multitude of tours that were very informative.  The staff and volunteers were all very welcoming and helpful.  It provided an insight into university life’.  Abi and Paula.

‘It was a good experience.  It was very informative and showed me what it was like to study at university’.

For those NCB students and parents who were unable to join us on this ENGAGE event, further information about future University of Hull Open Events can be found at https://www.hull.ac.uk/choose-hull/study-at-hull/visit-us/open-days  We want to thank the University of Hull for providing this amazing opportunity to our NCB students and their parents.
