New College Bradford gets DfE approval

The DfE have announced that the New Collaborative Learning Trust’s bid to open a new 16-19 free school in Bradford has been approved.

Pauline Hagen OBE, Chief Executive Officer of the trust, said: “We are delighted to have approval from the DfE for this exciting project. Work is already underway with our key partners in Bradford to make sure New College plays a significant part in ensuring outstanding outcomes for Bradford’s young people. We are passionate about improving the life chances of Bradford’s young people, helping more of them progress to competitive universities and professional employment, and look forward immensely to the work ahead.”

New College will build on the excellent track-record already established with New College Pontefract, delivering top-quality A-Level and Level 3 BTEC teaching. Working closely with Bradford Council, local secondary schools and the Regional Schools Commissioner, New College Bradford expects to open its doors to 500 young people in September 2018. It is expected to grow to its full capacity of 1200 three years after opening.

The New Collaborative Learning Trust is the Academy Trust of which New College will be a part, alongside New College Pontefract and New College Doncaster.
